Cultura Viva is back stronger than ever.
In this 6th edition, the festival will take place on Sunday, 12 July and will feature concerts by two legendary roots reggae bands from Jamaica.
The first confirmation is Israel Vibration & The Roots Radics, who with more than 5 decades of history, continue to release albums and tour internationally.
The second confirmation is local: the great Boom Boom Fighters bring the fire accompanied by the incomparable Cookah P. They are already established as the “dons” of dancehall and laid-back reggae in our country.
The third confirmation is the incomparable The Congos. Born as a duo between Ashanti Roy and Cedric Myton, the group was completed with Watty Burnett to become one of the most powerful vocal trios in reggae history.
Active since the mid-70s, their greatest legacy is the album Heart of the Congos (1977), a masterpiece recorded with Lee “Scratch” Perry at Black Ark studios. A record full of spirituality, ethereal harmonies and deep roots that is still considered one of the best reggae works of all time.
For the first time, Cultura Viva will have paid admission. The festival has grown and needs more investment in artists and services to establish itself, survive and serve the public efficiently and effectively.Even so, we reaffirm our conviction to bring live music to everyone, keeping very affordable ticket prices.
The early bird tickets at 12 euros have sold out. They are still available at the reduced price of 15 €. Support us by buying your ticket before the price increases.

Israel Vibration
Israel Vibration is a band that not only entertains, but also inspires and invites reflection through conscious music based on profound human values. Their story is a true example of overcoming and resilience.
The three founding members – Cecil “Skelly” Spence, Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig and Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin – contracted polio during their childhood in Jamaica, a disease that left them with permanent physical after-effects and, at that time, marked them as outcasts. Despite the physical and social difficulties, they turned pain into creative and spiritual strength. They founded Israel Vibration in the 1970s, becoming iconic voices of conscious roots reggae.
Their lyrics speak of hope, Rastafari faith, unity among peoples, the fight against injustice and inner peace, without ever falling into aggression. Anthems such as “The Same Song”, “Cool and Calm”, “Strength of My Life” or “On the Rock” are authentic manifestos of peaceful resistance and universal love.
Currently, with Lascelle “Wiss” Bulgin at the helm (following the passing of Apple Gabriel in 2020 and Skelly in 2022), the group keeps this legacy alive with an authenticity that few bands maintain after so many decades.
Boom Boom Fighters & Cookah P
Young people know it well and are never wrong about these things: Boom Boom Fighters, with the Empordà singer Cookah P at the front, are the favorite choice of the country’s youth.
Partly because they are as young as the rest, and partly because with only one mixtape, one full album and one EP they have established themselves as one of the most charismatic, solid, fun and powerful projects on the current scene. All with dancehall and reggae, Jamaican music with universal appeal.
In 2025 they arrive with a new show to present their second full-length album titled ‘Caliu’ (Propaganda pel Fet! 2025), an album in which they delve deeper into their formula of reinventing Jamaican dance music from a Mediterranean and 21st-century perspective.
Boom Boom Fighters & Cookah P are a torrent of energy, a necessary shake, a rhythmic steamroller and a machine that makes today’s youth and all generations dance.
The Congos
The Congos are one of the most revered and spiritual vocal trios in the entire history of reggae. Formed in the mid-70s by Cedric Myton (falsetto) and Roydel Johnson “Ashanti Roy” (tenor), the group became a trio with the addition of Watty Burnett (baritone).
Their collective voice, full of heavenly harmonies and deep Rastafari message, has made them a legend.Their debut album Heart of the Congos (1977), produced by Lee “Scratch” Perry at the Black Ark studios, is considered by many as one of the absolute masterpieces of roots reggae and the best album ever produced by Perry. Songs like “Fisherman”, “Children Crying” or “Congoman” radiate a unique spirituality and timeless beauty.
Despite ups and downs, break-ups and reunions, The Congos have kept the flame of conscious and spiritual reggae alive for more than five decades, becoming a benchmark of authenticity and quality for entire generations.
